3rd Review of Dr. Aggarwal's book, The Science of Peace, in the Journal of Indian Council of Philosophical Research (JICPR)
Sept 2020 issue

By Deborah Morrison - a Canadian Author & Life Coach

Gandhi is well known for being a revolutionary leader of a unique kind of peaceful protest – satyagraha, which harbours no ill will for the ‘wrong-doer’ but is based on love and self-suffering, so that the latter eventually comes to see his ‘wrong- doing’, resulting in a win-win situation for all parties. The Science of Peace by Dr. Suman Khanna Aggarwal endeavours to provide an easy self-help manual to those who seek a clear understanding of Gandhi’s thought and practice. As the title indicates, this study also aims to highlight that Nonviolence is a Science, and like any other Science, it is a discipline with a distinct body of knowledge. It has to be learnt thoroughly to be understood and applied effectively. Having taught courses on Gandhian philosophy and conducted workshops on Nonviolent Conflict Resolution, across several countries over the past three decades, the author, Dr Suman Khanna Aggarwal, realised there is minimal clarity about Gandhi’s basic concepts of Truth, Nonviolence, Service Satyagraha, etc.
