Our Programs

India is one of the fastest developing countries with millions of people from villages pouring into crowded and often unmanageable urban slums in search of better livelihood opportunities. Urban slums are frequently characterised by a lack of access to necessities, like clean drinking water, weak infrastructure and inadequate sanitation, insecurity, overcrowding, and exposure to multiple risks such as family separation, living and working on the streets, violence, alcoholism and substance abuse, sexual exploitation, HIV and AIDS.

Our projects cover five focus areas: Quality Education (Slum Children’s Education in Delhi), Health Care, Skill Development (an NGO working for Skill Development in Delhi), Women Empowerment (an NGO working for Women Empowerment in Delhi), Eldercare, and Peace and Conflict Resolution.

(Give a slum child a future through education today.)

Education for Urban Slums & Villages:

Since poor slum children can break the cycle of poverty through education and subsequent employment, our Education Project for Urban Slums/Villages provides children from 17 South Delhi Slums and Tughlakabad Village with access to education in our Play/pre-schools and then in Secondary Schools.  As such, we strive to contribute to UN Sustainable Development Goal (UN SDG) # 4 – Quality Education by enabling inclusive and equitable quality education and opportunities for lifelong learning. Our Quality Education Program extends from pre-schools, Primary & Secondary for children to Vocational and Adult learning centres.  Sponsor a child today.

Play / Pre-School

Our preschools provide a safe, nurturing space that fosters social and cognitive growth. Through play-based learning and structured activities, children build communication, teamwork, and emotional skills, preparing them for kindergarten and future academic success with a holistic approach to unlock their full potential.

Primary and Secondary Education Support

We sponsor primary and secondary education for children in urban slums and rural villages, ensuring quality learning and extracurricular participation. This includes our preschool pass-outs, supporting their transition to formal schooling while fostering creativity, teamwork.

Remedial / Non-Formal

Our remedial classes reinforce school learning, addressing gaps with personalized attention to improve academics. We also offer non-formal education at our community center for school dropouts, focusing on basic literacy and life skills, empowering them to rejoin mainstream education or gain practical knowledge for everyday life.

Adult

We empower illiterate women through adult education, teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic for independence. Women are encouraged to complete formal schooling via IGNOU and NIOS, unlocking opportunities for further education and skills. This fosters self-confidence and enables meaningful contributions to their families and communities.

Healthcare Project

Our Healthcare Program is dedicated to improving the lives of slum dwellers by providing access to essential health services and promoting overall well-being. Through regular health camps, awareness sessions, and preventive care initiatives, we address common health issues and  encourage healthy lifestyle practices. The program aligns with the  UN SDG Goal #3Good Health and Well-Being, by striving to reduce health disparities and ensure equitable access to healthcare. Our efforts aim to create healthier, more resilient communities for a better future.

Skill Development

Our Skill Development and Livelihood Empowerment program focuses on equipping young people and women with market-relevant skills to enhance their employability and economic independence. Through vocational training, entrepreneurship workshops, and mentorship, we prepare participants for full and productive employment, enabling them to secure decent work opportunities. By fostering self-reliance and financial stability, the program not only uplifts individuals but also benefits their families and communities. This initiative supports the UN SDG Goal #8 Decent Work and Economic Growth, contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable future.

Women Empowerment

The Centre empowers our women to live a dignified life. Our centre provides strong support to the Victims of domestic violence and abuse through legal awareness, counselling, and aid, coupled with rehabilitation via vocational training in Computer Applications, Beauty Culture, and Cutting & Tailoring. It acts as a transformative force, driving underprivileged women’s social, economic, and legal empowerment. By fostering micro-enterprises and entrepreneurship through Self-Help Groups (SHGs), We cultivate self-reliance and independence. Additionally, it extends its impact to adult education and health initiatives, ensuring holistic support for community development and resilience.

Shanti Sahyog Centre for Non-Violence(CFN)

The Centre for Nonviolence India (CFN), a unit of Shanti Sahyog, is an emerging think tank and advocacy organization dedicated to advancing Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a Nonviolent World Order. CFN strives to foster public awareness of nonviolence as essential knowledge for human survival.
