Following Gandhi's maxim, "An ounce of practice is better than a ton of theory", Shanti Sahyog was registered in Delhi in 1992 as an All-India NGO. Comitted to the practical application of Gandhian values in society today, Shanti Sahyog, is dedicated to serving the underprivileged in the field of Education, Health and Women Empowerment. Continuing Gandhi's vision of positive peace, we promote nonviolent conflict resolution, peace education, citizen diplomacy and peace programs in India and abroad.
Currently active in 17 urban slums in new Delhi (Kalkaji/Govindpuri area), The Shanti Sahyog Team of 43, works with the slum dwellers to help them strive towards a better quality of life. The aim is to tackle problems at a grass roots level and find sustainable solutions. This is in line with Gandhi's concept of God as 'Daridra Narayana' - worship of God through service of the poor. Shanti Sahyog Community Welfare Program, especially the Literacy Project with emphasis on Girl Child Education has achieved significant landmarks. We need your help to continue with and expand the work that we are doing and invite you to visit our Projects to see first-hand the work we are doing.
Pictures speak a thousand words. We have been doing substantial work over more than two decades.
